Explorer Canyon is on the eastern side of the Escalante Arm about 15 miles upstream, its mouth partially hidden by Garces Island. Explorer is narrow and navigable only about one mile in high water, but the canyon continues to Zane Grey Arch and a major amphitheater below the rim and offers delightful hiking.
